Road Trip to Bjelke-Petersen Dam

Bjelke–what? Yeah, I don’t know how to pronounce it either. However, what I can say is that this dam is one of the most prettiest places I have yet to discover. I’ve been camping there a handful of times before, however it is a great place to spend the day.

My boyfriend, Tom, and I decided to take the two hour trip down (getting lost twice in the process) to meet my grandparents and spend the day by the Dam.

The scenery did not fail to disappoint, as per expected. We were lucky with the weather; it may have been a tad on the cold side, but all we could see for miles was clear blue skies and clear blue water. It doesn’t get better than that.

After having a BBQ for lunch, my Grandfather, Tom, and I ventured out to my Grandfathers boat and onto the Dam.

The scenery only got better as we travelled along the water, coming to a herd of cows (and calves!) along with a load of pelicans around the shore and a group of birds putting on a show in the sky.

After the boat ride, we all went back up and Tom and I spend the rest of the day chatting with my Grandparent’s until it was time for us to make the journey back to the Sunny Coast. The entire trip home consisted of Tom and I singing along to Lorde’s new album, which really, isn’t a terrible way to spend a two hour road trip if you ask me.

If you have a spare day and feel like a road trip, I would 100% recommend you take the time to travel down to Bjelke-Petersen Dam. Whether you want to go camping, or just want to spend the day (it’s pet friendly!), you won’t be disappointed.

Thanks for reading lovelies, and I’ll see you in the next post! x
